Happy Saturday, friends! Another summer week is in the books. Another week passed us by and I still haven’t been to the beach. I literally live 20 minutes (probably even less) away from the beach and haven’t headed down the shore a single time this summer. I’m a sorry excuse for a New Jerseyan.
So, fun stuff! I posted my first guest post on another blog 🙂 and it's a dish I wouldn't usually eat but totally had a great time making and photographing. If you're wondering what it was, it happens to be Garlic Lemon Grilled Salmon.
I get a little sad every time I look at my calendar and see the numbers in August inch higher and higher. Soon enough it’ll be September and it’ll be cold again. I’m not necessarily complaining, I do love fall time activities. I feel like they get done a little more often than summertime activities because all of my friends are usually home and available for an apple picking, apple cider drinking, pumpkin carving, apple cider donut eating, scarf and sweater wearing adventure. We take our Fall (or Autumn…) here very seriously. What are some of your favorite Fall activities that I might have missed?
Being engaged to be married is no walk in the park. Dear fiance: I love you, but planning a wedding is so overwhelming. So far we’ve picked a season and the year. We’ve been engaged exactly two weeks. I realize I am ridiculous.
My pals and sisters threw me a potluck style engagement brunch today and it was so lovely - from the delicious food to seeing all my favorite people in one place. And the mimosas. I usually bring every food imaginable to potlucks, but for this one I just brought cold brew coffee. 8 cups worth was gone in about 6 minutes flat.
Do you eat a certain food on a certain day? Like Taco Tuesdays or Pizza Fridays? We just eat whatever strikes our fancy at the moment, but I wish I could be one of those Taco Tuesday/Margarita Monday/Pizza Friday kind of people. I’m thinking of becoming a Stack of Pancakes Saturday kind of gal. Just a thought.
We (and when I say we, I mean the fiance) are hosting the fantasy football draft party tonight and I’m not sure if I’ll be sticking around or dodging the scene once the “festivities” start. I’m not a big fan of fantasy football (football on its own is fine), but I do love football snacks. Put me in front of a bowl of buffalo chicken dip and I am one happy gal.
What are you up to this weekend?
Until next Saturday!
David @ Spiced
Oh yeah! Buffalo chicken dip! I am literally giddy with excitement over the return of college football this weekend. Football also means football food. Bring it on! And congrats on the engagement, Jessica. That is awesome news! My best piece of advice is to enjoy the planning. I know that sounds silly, but you will look back on those times fondly...so try and enjoy it. 🙂
Jessica
Thanks for your words of wisdom, David! I'm ready to tackle the planning (I think I am!) and all that comes with it. In the meantime, bring on the football and the football food!!
Mir
Taco Tuesdays is definitely a thing. And takeout Fridays, usually Thai or sushi. I don't want to cook at the end of the week!
Hope your engagement fun is going well!
Jessica
We like doing date night Fridays 🙂 but sometimes I come home after work and take a mysterious nap for 3 hours and sleep right through date night time. I can get on board with weekly Taco Tuesdays though! Engagement is moving right along - we have 5 venue tours set up for this weekend!

Congrats on the engagement Jess - fun times ahead and I sincerely mean that. I remember the day I got engaged like it was yesterday and seriously, it was more than 24 years ago. (Does that make me old or what?) Enjoy every single minute of the whole process!
Jessica
Thanks so much, Allie! We're pretty excited but also a little overwhelmed. I'm ready for a bunch of fun though!
Rachelle @ Beer Girl Cooks
You sure are a busy girl right now! Congratulations on the engagement and get yourself to the beach for some relaxation! 🙂
Jessica
Haha thank you, Rachelle! I might have to make my way to the beach one of these days after work even if it just means I only dip my feet in the water and sit down on the sand and read a book for an hour or so 🙂
Eva @ Eva Bakes
We don't do themed meal days, but I feel like every day is chocolate day! 🙂
Jessica
Yes. Yes to this always.
