A solo glass of apple cider sangria, because I was a part-time bartender and making single batches of drinks is what we did best. You can stop at one, but I won't judge you if you don't.
I know, I know. Who just stops at one glass? Me, usually. I don't drink all that much, and when I do I usually try to take it easy. This recipe is scaled down from a recipe I had stored in my memory banks from a few Thanksgivings ago. It was a lovely pitcher recipe that I made for Thanksgiving and everyone LOVED it!
But seeing as now I'm the only one in my house who likes apple cider, or probably wine for that matter, it doesn't make sense for me to make an entire pitcher of apple cider sangria for myself. This recipe will tide me over until Thanksgiving rolls around again (which I know will be coming sooner than I expect...as always.)
The original recipe is from Swirls of Flavor, and was published over 2 years ago (making sense that we've used this recipe for the past two Thanksgivings.) I love that it has a simple ingredient list, and as long as you have apples and a cinnamon stick or two on hand, you don't really need to worry about garnishes. If you happen to have apple brandy and some white wine on hand, you're already halfway there to a glass of apple cider sangria!
To scale down this recipe, I used basic bartender tactics...a shot to a shot and a quarter of hard alcohol + wine + other mixers (apple cider and club soda/other lemon lime soda). Fairly simple, if you ask me.
Use a fancy wine glass to build this drink in, or use your favorite mason jar. Nobody's here to judge. If you have leftover wine from a full sized bottle (just me? Sigh) and some homemade apple cider (!!!) from the lovely blog Sally's Baking Addiction, toss them all together and make this fantastically simple apple cider sangria.
The homemade apple cider is made in the crockpot and made the whole house smell like a big fall party...so much love. Dice up an apple or two (for health) and let the pieces soak in your beautiful sangria creation while you catch up on all the DVR-ed episodes of Jeopardy you haven't watched yet. I am the biggest nerd.
How are you enjoying fall?
One Glass Apple Cider Sangria
A solo glass of apple cider sangria, because I'm a part-time bartender and making single batches of drinks is what we do best. You don't have to stop at just one!
Ingredients
- 1 ounce Applejack brandy
- 5 ounces white wine
- 3 ounces apple cider
- dash of vanilla extract
- splash of club/lemon lime soda
- pieces cubed apple for garnish
Instructions
- Measure out each ingredient and add to a medium sized glass.
- Chop apples into uniform cubes and place into glass.
- Stir, add ice if desired, enjoy!
- *If not drinking right away, do not add the soda until just before consuming. The carbonation will be lost before you get to enjoy your sangria - no fun!

Made a batch for me and my girlfriends. It went so quick I had to ask my husband to go out to the store and buy more wine!

I like the idea of having a single glass of sangria because I don't drink much either. I never considered that sangria could be made in a single serving. Great idea! And it sounds delicious.

Thanks, Dee! I can't wait for fall to roll around again for apple picking and cider 🙂
