Hi there! I’m Jessica, the name and the face behind Citrus & Delicious. I’m a 20-something college grad, admin assistant, blogger, freelance writer, recipe developer and chocolate addict born and raised in New Jersey. Citrus & Delicious (formerly Citrus Blossom Bliss) was created to share my experiences with food (including desserts) and exercise and trying to find a comfortable balance between the two. I love creating delicious and approachable recipes that make cooking at home fun again.
I love balance. There’s no need to cut out the things you love, like chocolate or desserts. Everything in moderation has its benefits. Have a look around and check out some of my favorite things to cook or my simple tips on how to lead a healthier life.
About Me
I’ve always told people I was an old soul trapped in a young person’s body, (are your mid-2os still considered young?) and I stand by it. I’ve always enjoyed writing, reading, learning, organizing and responsibility. I must have been a strange, strange child.
Most times I consider myself a jack-of-all-trades. I can cook, play/watch/understand most sports, give a car a jump start, and pick out a nice outfit when I need to 🙂
I’m a pretty cool puppy mom. This little guy is my cuddle buddy.
His name is Beanie, and he’s our miniature dachshund puppy. He’s a handful and a half, but I love him.
I love his sleepytime antics and his spots.
I’m a former athlete, through and through, and my leg muscles can attest to that. All those years of running and soccer did pay off! Running is still one of my favorite methods of exercise because it’s so simple. In good weather you’ll find me laced up and jogging around town or in a park soaking up all nature has to offer. In the bitter cold and sweltering hot months, you’ll find me working out inside. I’m very temperature sensitive!
Without a doubt, my favorite food is pizza. I don’t care if it’s Sicilian, thick crust, thin crust, cooked in a coal-fired oven or cooked in my own gas range—if it’s pizza, I will love it. Runner up foods include penne vodka, chicken Parmesan, Chipotle chicken burrito bowls filled to the brim with toppings, salads with great dressings and flavors, cookies, ice cream, and chocolate. My go-to essential beverages are coffee and water (always), orange juice and lemonade (sometimes), and Starbucks’ caramel macchiatos (when I need a quick pick-me-up). At a party I once hosted, there were as many options for dessert as there were for non-dessert foods. We take our desserts very seriously.
As much as I love food and exercise, I also love the craft of writing while sharing recipes and information with my readers. In college I majored in English and History, so I always strive to make my writing fun and entertaining while keeping it grammatically correct. Proper grammar makes me happy.
