Another year just whizzed right by us. Or was that just me?
Anyhow. Happy New Year, friends! We made it through another one and we're on to the next.
I hate to sound cliché, but I definitely want to be healthier in 2016. Getting healthy is my main priority and weight loss is a secondary goal. What better time than the present to start the 21 Day Fix.
Weight gain is a weird thing. A few pounds up or down and most times we can't tell the difference either way. What we do notice is when those couple of pounds is added on to another couple of pounds and maybe another on top of that. We allow ourselves excuses to continue gaining weight (or, at least not losing it).
But it's the holidays, I can't pass on the traditional homemade Christmas Eve pierogies or mom's chocolate chip cookies. If I didn't sample all of the appetizers at Thanksgiving or New Year's Eve, surely everyone would be on to me and ask if I was feeling alright.
Days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months. We are all human and it's acceptable to let ourselves slip from time to time. It's okay to indulge during the holidays to enjoy those foods we don't usually get during the rest of the year.
What is important is that you identify your goals during these times. If you're seeking to maintain a weight loss, moderate exercise on top of conscious holiday eating is usually enough to keep excess pounds from creeping back up. If you've realized you need to cut back, identify a concrete beginning date and stick to your plan.
This past Monday I began doing Beachbody's program the 21 Day Fix in an attempt to really get ahold of my poor eating habits and pair it with scheduled exercises. I'm scheduled to be done with my 21 day fix by January 17th (just in time for my work Christmas party...oh boy.)

21 Day Fix Updates
I'll be doing three quick weekly updates on Monday mornings to recap the past week and set some goals for the week ahead. So far, so good. I feel a little better about the 21 Day Fix each day, and hopefully I feel so well by the end that I could share a before and after photo.
What's on your New Years resolution list? How do you stay healthy and in shape?
